Vaccum question, i think???

After taking apart my NA engine and removing the upper intake manifold, i see there is a mess of all these vacuum lines and fittings for more vacuum lines and some other odd stuff.

My question is, is this "mess" really necasary for the engine to run? Im in the middle of a TII swap....so just wondering if i need to label and keep this or just get rid of it.
