Vaccum lines - front of UIM...order?

ok well i dont have a picture but i was wondering about some vac lines...i recently installed injectors and my car isnt idling right now (1500rpm)...im not sure if its my UIM gasket...(doubt it) cause i sealed it really well with RTV...(let it dry overnight before starting car)...but i turn on the car and i can HEAR a sucking or blowing of air...

on the front of the UIM...the 3 vaccum lines...do they go TOP TO TOP...MIDDLE TO MIDDLE...and BOTTOM TO BOTTOM? or a different order? and in the back....the big one goes on the bottom...and what about the 2 little ones...whats the order on those?

idk...other suggestions?

Top-Top........Middle-Middle..........Bottom-Bottom

On the back I have four nipples. Some others have but three.

The big one goes to the oil injector spider.

The very bottom one is the only one with vacuum and goes to the water thermo valve just to the left along with the white/green check valve.

The one above the large one, goes to the fuel injector air bleed feed nipple. That nipple is inbetween the two oil injectors on the intake manifold.

The very top one is blocked off.

IF you have the very bottom nipple on the back, going to the fuel injector air bleed b/t the oil injectors on the intake manifold.........that is a problem. It should NOT be getting vacuum (remember the very bottom nipple of the ones on the back of the throttle body is vacuum).

EDIT: The key point that is missed in the posts below, is that only the very bottom nipple on the back is vacuum. You do not want to mate that to the oil injector air bleed b/t the oil injectors. EVER.

the front is kind of idiot proof so you have ask yourself, "am i an idiot?"

the back is, large goes to the oil injector spider, one small one goes to the thermowax and the other small one goes to the LIM port between the oil injectors iirc.

i guess it was a rather dickheaded way to put it but to clear up confusion it is always good to mark lines before removing them to be sure they are put back in the right order.

high idle... if you had the throtle body stuff off.... i'd assume you'd just need to tune the tps. the throtle speed screw.
those 2 things can get a lil off when you take off the intake stuff.

ez as that..

so what exactly were you doing. you took off uper intake manafold. placed it on the floor. and swapped out the injectors .

posibly having it hit on the floor and what not.. ... idk.. when i put my stuff back on it was off. . not by much... but the idle was different..... just at least check tps.... and maybe mess with idle speed

if you put new injectors. i'd asume you'd be getting more fuel flowing threw....

concidering old ones might have been just a bit clogged...

ok well the very bottom one goes the that check valve...the big one cant get mixed up, and the top two im not sure...ill have to take my UIM off again this weekend and figure it out...i have to check out how my gasket is holding up anyways...i made it out of gasket material and i wanna check how its holding up to the heat...

Why don't you first do the Carb Cleaner trick to find the vacuum leak. Better than poking around blindly.

For the most part the vacuum is all from the same source so if you get some crossed then it isn't the end of the world. However, you say you "HEAR" the sucking sound........Tells me you left one off or one fell of while you were working on something else.

finger nail polish works great too, more colors. used white out before, but after a while all you see is white.

Did you reconnect the two vacuum lines that go BEHIND the UIM? They connect by the throttle cable bracket and go to the rats nest - one on top of the other. ~rich

Only one of the four (three on some S4) are vacuum on the back of the throttle body. Just FYI.

If you cross the single vacuum one with a non vacuum one you get a odd idle.
