To use sealant or not..

Got a new Mazdas t-stat and gasket for my S5. Do I need to use rtv sealant on the the neck housing? It doesn't seem to have a paper gasket. Just the oring that goes on the t-stat.

I got all this at the Mazdas dealer. He showed me an exploded diagram of the engine. There was no paper gasket. Did you make your own?

The S5 has an o-ring which seals fine. I always use sealant on all gaskets because it makes removing them easier and helps the seal.
