Urgent: Respond Asap, Awaiting Reply.
Ok so I had just changed my oil and drove up here to my girlfriends house when i realize that my oil cap is somewhere on the side of the interstate... my question is- would it be safe to drive the car the 10 minutes back to my house so that i can get a new cap tomorrow? Or should i not be driving it at all w/o the cap?
Thanks for your help,
im sitting here waiting for a reply before i can go home.

no driving without your oil cap is no big deal if anything its somewhat good because you have no pressure being built up inside the oil pan if you want just put a piece of aluminum foil or something over it till you get home... it will not do anything to your motor unless something falls in it.

If you insist on driving like a mad man, here is what might happen...
Oil will slosh up the tube and out the filler neck.
The oil can land on your belts, which will cause lots of screeching if not a lot of slipping and stinky smells of burning rubber.
At the very least, you'll end up with oil all over your engine bay, and you have to clean it....unless you're super rich (or Batman) and tell Alfred the butler to do it.
I would suggest you drive a bit conservatively.

Well I've used a few different lines myself - but, missing oil cap??? PLEASE!!! I'll guess right now that you don't (really) want to go home from your g'friend's: Do you?
If I'm wrong - grab a plastic sandwich bag of your choice and a rubber band or ziptye, etc. It' may leak a 'lil blowby, but - cleanup will be alot less nasty. G'ma my $ss.
