Ur opinion!..TII with STREETPORT

I was reading MAZDATRIX's 86-95 turbo streetporting article.

http://www.mazdatrix.com/engsptb.htm

How come they said "do not expect substantial gains in power from "street porting" these engines - it's a worthwhile addition IF the engine is going to be apart anyway, but definitely not worth taking a running engine apart just to street port it."

How much HP will i gain if i was to go ahead and streetport my 87TII. Also if there is small benefit i will not do it.

I think there has to be additional fuel and air to see the real gains (correct me if I'm wrong people).

I was dragging a ported SE and completly blew him away - and he had no cats and wired open ports. I was thinking I'd only beat him by 1/2 a length in my TII.

Found out the port, intake, and no-exhaust was all he had going.

Your right...porting doesn't really gain much unless you have other mods. Start w/ exhaust, intake, pulleys, other porting(intake manifold, TB, etc). Then have your motor ported to accomodate the other mods on the car...then supply the fuel and your golden. However, the 4port T2 respond much better to porting then the 6port NAs do...I believe the gains are about 25% on a T2(about 40HP) and like 20% on an NA(only like 25HP). Thats why I'm just waiting for my motor to blow first. I have other mods I want to do first, that way, when I do get my motor ported, its ported to the rest of my mods, and not under or over ported....

40HP more on TIIs

wow!..that's pretty impressive!..40 HP more horses is alot!..WHERE did you get this figures??..Also im still not sure if i will go with porting because i've been told that it will not pass California Emission Law. That sucks!!!...I have Full RB exaust and i can easilly unbolt it when smog check comes. But a STREETPORT can not be fixed like the exaust...=(

I'm guessing the extra exhaust gass output wouldn't be burned in a ported motor - so you're probably right.

A performance cat might keep up. Why don't you start a new topic with this question?
