Upgrade transmission

I have a 87 SE stock. Having problems in third gear transfers, (noises, rough changes into gear). Thinking about rebuilding the tranny. Have a chance to get a Turbo tranny. Does a stock 13B match up with a turbo tranny. Would there be any other adjusments needed?

Tranny Upgrade

Firstly, it's generally only neccessary if you're planning for a lot more power. But it's not that hard, my 86 base model has a Turbo tranny.

The Flywheel should be changed, along (obviously) with the clutch. I'm not sure how neccessary this step it, but it was done on mine. The starter has to be changed - the NA starter will not fit the Turbo bellhousing.

The driveshaft will have to be changed or modified. The easiest way to do it is to install a TII driveshaft and differential, thus beefing up the system even more. This is what I did. The shop actually modified the half-shafts, and it wasn't that expensive to do. You could also just install the whole system from a TII if you already have 5-bolt hubs or want to do that swap as well.

I know there are a fair number of people who have done this, try searching on the web to see what you come up with.
