Update: Car now dies when when warmed up! Please help

Alternator WAS bad, so I got a new one yesterday. Car starts right up. I leave it in the garage running to see if it will die. 30 mins later, with me sitting watching the car from the outside, it dies. I let it sit for about 25 mins and it starts right back up then dies 5 mins later. It seems that when ever it gets up to operating temperature it dies and wont start back up until the engine has cooled down. What should I check?

Oh and battery tested ok

Have you done a compression check?

I dont have a compression checker Would compression have anything to do with this? I mean, it starts up when cold, dies when warm. So it runs, sorta. I thought if I had bad compression it wouldnt start at all....

So lets assume its not a compression problem, What WOULD you check?

well do a compression check anyway, just to get a better idea as to the overall health of the engine. But man, I dunno.... I'm still a noob!

I forgot to say, My check engine light does come on when it is about to die. If that helps anyone. Also my tach stopped working the exact same time this problem came up. I read something about the tach and limp mode or something. Could the no tach working be related to my problem?

Are you sure the alternator is good? I make sure they test the alternator before i bring it home. The last time I was out buying one, the "new" one they gave me failed the test (Good thing i made them check it before i took it home).

I did the ol' remove the battery connects for a sec while the engine is running, car ran fine didnt stumble at all. Also the car wouldnt die and then start back up again 20 mins later if it was an alternator problem I dont think...

it wouldn't just die either, it would slowly start to shut down as the battery drains out.

new update. Now it only stays running for 5 secs, then dies. Also my tach stopped working. I read somewhere that this might be a trailing igniter problem. how do I test that?

ok still not working, here are things I have checked:
-AFM is plugged in
-No vacuum leaks that I can see (cant test with starter fluid because only stays running for 5 secs)
-Tried jumping the yellow fuel jumper

I am going to check that I am getting spark on my trailing coils, but I dont see this being the cause of it dying after 3 seconds.

I assume that it is dying during the accelerated warm up. Revs to 3k then dies. Can I assume that the tach dying and the car dying are unrelated? Also here is a little more info on what happened...

Originally I was having a problem with the car dying after warming up to operating temp. Similar to this https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...light=car+dies
So I started poking around the engine bay and now I have this problem. I messed with the throttle stuff in the pictures, by mess with I mean pushed back and forth. I am particularly concerned with the circled item. I pushed it ALL the way in and out several times. Could this have messed anything up?

Don't just wiggle things around especially when you are messing with the throttle body. I may be mistaken, I don't have an N/A yet, but that may be the fast idle adjust? If that is then you need to get it back in spec per the FSM. Don't quote me that that is the fast idle...

no I am not sure about having the idle set correctly, but I didnt turn any screws or anything, just pushed and pulled on different springs. So what your saying is that I possibly messed it up by pushing on that stuff? When I get home I'll check on that.

battery is good. It was the first thing I tested. So I could eliminate it. Alternator is also good.

F*cking sh*t. Now the car wont even turn over. Its just making this pitiful whine noise. I hope I didnt burn out the starter. Now I have to get that tested. I didnt even get to check for vacuum leaks. Im so tired of this.

Took starter off and had it checked. Checked came back good. Put it back on....Now its just rapid clicking or more like a grinding noise. I checked the connections, they are good. this problem just keeps jumping around. What could it be? Would flooding cause it to just click and not turn over?

are you sure the battery is good man? judging from what you have said as far as start-up noise.... my bet is to get a new one. wait a sec, you said it threw a CEL before it died? have you checked to see what CEL it is throwing?
