Universal one wire 02 sensor Work?

Well i just put a universal one wire o2 sensor on my caron the new bonez downpipe, and i havent got any other exhaust on it yet just open downpipe, but my a/f ratio gauge dosent work, i put it in at the same time as the 02 sensor but it dosent read anything, and I hooked it up to the ecu, maybe the wire came undone or something, but my question is will the UNiverasl 02 sensor work? Also will the exhaust being so open make the a/f gauge not be able to read?

Thanx

Stock type narrowband O2 sensor + ARR gauge = useless. An AFR gauge is only useful if there's a wideband in the equation. The narrowband ONLY works in a very narrow band of AFR's right around 14.7. With an opened up exhaust it's gonna run rich due to the ECU calibration, meaning that even if it the sensor is working and the gauge is hooked up right it's not going to register anything because the mix is out of the useful range of the O2 sensor.

A universal O2 sensor should be fine though.

Only reason i have one is to make sure that the a/f ratio dosent drop off lean....

Just because it shouldn't be used for tuning doesn't make it useless. They can be a useful tool for monitoring the engine's behaviour, particularly if something changes.

That's just a load of BS. An exhaust will have very little effect on the mixtures of an NA engine.

RX7Boy06, a universal O2 sensor will work fine (that's all it came with), but they don't work until they're HOT, which requires ~5 minutes driving from cold.

Make sure that when you installed the connector, you connected it to the proper wire in the ECU harness. The O2 wire is shielded so you may have connected to the shield instead of the middle conductor. Very common mistake.
