I posted this in interior section but not getting much response.

Well, this is totally unacceptable. I bought seat mounts from a company called Wedge. The workmanship is just ok. Then I got Recaro sliders to go with my Recaro Pole Position seats. I am using Recaro aluminum side mounts.

The seats sit way to high. I mean just stupid high.....I don't know if I am just going to have to go without the sliders. I am having to use the top hole in the side mounts. To use the second hole will require grinding away at the top of the mount. The hole for the harness to your side is in the way. I will end up doing that.

There has to be a better way to make all of this work. I don't care if I have to start all over. So how do I make my new Recaro pole positions sit low and slide in a 1989 RX7?

After calling around I don't think there is anyway to make these seats sit lower and slide. I guess I am going to have to go without sliders....what a drag!

If anyone has any suggestions please let me know.

 

Chris..what I did in a Pinch was use the Stock sliders.I got some Flat Steel,about 17 inches long and Two inches wide.then you Put the Pieces across the two Sliders,and Drill holes for a Nut and bolt.Bolt the Piece to the slider,then Install the Seat to that Metal piece....Currently I am installing a set of Seats in my FC and I have found that the Bride Rails and the Seats Sit too high..Not only that, the Brackets Do not Fit the seat!.so I am using the Flat steel "method" again to put the Seat to the Rail,and I had to CUT the Bracket Down as it Sat up by about an Inch and a bit..It was OK do do it because the bracket that attaches to the car had a "s" type curve in it..by removing the curve and just leaving an "L" shape,It allowed the Seat to sit on the Bracket and I was able to use them..anyhow,Good luck,.hope that helps(if you can understand WTF I was sayin!.LOL!).

 

^^^I've done what he did too. It works well.

Unfortunatly, it didn't work so well with my FX1-Pro. I had to cut out the stock floor mounts on the floor pan and bolted my homemade sidemounts through the floor and reinforced with steel plates underneath.

 

i used flat steel to mount my momo seat to the stock rails. took me maybe half an hour and it sits perfectly

 

Yea, I remember reading about people doing that but I figured something out there was designed properly....guess not. I will try and see how it works for me.

 

Side-mount seats are never going to mount low unless you bolt them to the floor.
Adding any type of sliding adjustment is going to just jack them higher.
If you insist on having sliding adjustment, you need to make a custom set-up that mounts the seat as low as possible.
I'd just use the stock sliders (unbolt them from your stock seats), and custom fab brackets to bolt everything together.

Wedge brackets are useless. Not to mentioned overpriced... and they take too long to get them too you.

Bridge FG brackets have reasonably good headroom... but you'd need to custom fabricate your own system to get it adjustable and as low as possible.

The Bride systems aren't low enough for a race car where you need full clearance for a roll bar and helmet. Getting some non-adjustable mounts that can be adjusted by unbolting the seat would be the best idea if you only have one driver (I only adjust my Bride rails once in a while).
