uim/coolant/tb qs

Ive got a question about my lines running through the uim. I was removing my uim/tb so I could mod and port it. During this removal as I started to remove the uim, snap, crackle, pop the vacuum lines seemed to explode as I was removing it. When I was taking it off one of the coolant lines broke and is now a few inches too short to fit back on. Will standard silicone hoses(I bought mine from autozone) typically used as vacuum line work as coolant lines or will they get too hot and melt??has anyone done this??? If it wont work I will go get some rubber hose and replace it. Thanks for any help people

You're better off using coolant hoses. They're reinforced so that they dont expand and pop when the get hot and pressurized.

silicone is fine for coolant, but no good for fuel or oil.

I had to use a silicone hose in the same place for a little while last year until I could pick up the right hose.

Plain ol' rubber vac and coolant lines work just fine. It takes well over a decade for them to become brittle, so they can not be considered unreliable.

man if your coolant line just broke in half, i would go through and check all of your hoses before they just start bursting
