Type of Gasket??

Ok i really didnt find anything on this during searching the forum, but tomarrow i think im going to take the bac valve off and clean it, how hard is this, what do you need, and my real question is can you make you own gasket, out of gasket material, and just put some rtv on one side of that too, and which side is that, basiclly how do you do the whole process, is that a site on this, or anything,

no gasket then, if so would blue rtv be fine to use, i would really appreciate a whole write up on how to do this please

i have some gasket material do i just make one out of that and use no rtv, or do i need rtv too????? im doing this tomarrow please help

For all practical purposes, as far as we're concerned, RTV "is" gasket material. Just use a thin layer, let it set up a couple of minutes before torquing everything down, and you shouldn't have any problems. Blue should work well in that area...
