Two Questions

1: Does anyone know where I can get a fully functional S4 warning cluster? I have tried three and none of them work completely.

2: I'm getting clutch chatter when I have the car in neutral and the pedal is NOT being pressed. When I press the clutch the noise goes away. is this a bearing or fork issue? or is the tranny not coming completely out of gear?

thanks guys.

I feel like the ninja on www.askaninja.com.

To answer the first question of your two question question:

Have you checked the wiring to the cluster? maybe some bad soldering on the circuit board left you without full funtionality of the cluster? I don't think you can get 3 consecutive failures with 3 other clusters.

and about the clutch issue, I have the same problem also, and I have yet to figure that out. I'm guessing it's the bearing, but it could also be a worn clutch.

hey both of you, i have the same problem and ive had about 7 people say it's the throw out bearing in the clutch. if it makes like a loud whirling noise anyways. because thats what mine does haha.

Check the FAQ's, problems like these are covered in great detail. Otherwise here's my .02 cents

#1 rx7 have a problem with factory solder points, called cold soldering. easy fix really, just pull the back cover of the cluster and heat the solder joints with a soldering iron.

#2 most likely your throw out bearing has started to fail and also might think of bleeding the clutch cylinders, may have gotten air into the system

It's definately the cluster(s), not the wiring...I may try to heat the solder joints.

-Thanks for the tips

On these cars, any cluster you find is going to be bad. If you dont want to do it, Icemark sells rebuild ones (www.mazdamark.com)
