Angry two light tps method...

ok this is a pain in the ***, i got the mazda tool, and it lights up red finally before it didn't want to do anything.. i let it warm up and when it was warmed up there was no red light, but when i let it cool down the red light came on... when i turned the screw though the red light went away but i never saw a green.. and im afraid to turn the screw to the left too much because i dont want it to come out, at what point will it come out? when you cant see the screw anymore from the back or when it comes out of the coils. i just need help i need to find this green light because now my car wont idle..

The engine HAS TO BE HOT when you set the tps.

The thermowax will move the throttle linkage when the engine cools off or heats up.

When you move the throttle linkage, you move the tps plunger.

So, set the tps with the engine HOT.

I'd get the engine hot and then turn the engine off, then the key back to ON.

Turn the tps screw all the way out to just before it runs out of threads.

Then turn the screw in until one light comes on.

Then gently turn some more til the second light comes on.

Now two lights are on.

Now turn anti clockwise til only one light is on.

Your done.

You want to do this procedure in a quick orderly manner. Do not fiddle around and let the engine become cooler, or the thermowax will contract and the linkage will move and the tps plunger will move. Upsetting the apple cart.

People who set the tps with a cool/cold engine end up with a huffer idle.

when you say threads on the tps screw do you mean until i cant see it from the otherside anymore or until it comes out of the little coils in the middle.

i think the tool is messed up, because it seems like the light only came on when the engine was cold and i tried it again with the engine cold and it didnt work its just random, so i guess i have to figure something else out, and the battery died mann

Stop trying or even messing with it when the engine is cold is my advice. Your wasting time and effort doing that. Nothing will be accomplished by doing it cold. Nadda.

On the screw: I meant just basically unscrewing it til it almost falls out. If it falls out, well, reinstall it. I was just trying to get you to some basic starting point by unscrewing it almost all the way counterclockwise.

I tried this method, however i couldnt get either of the lights to light up, no matter how much i turned it clockwise or counter clockwise...
however i tested both lights and they work and i was in fact putting the leads into the right places on the test connector...
no lights, but managed to get it right with a voltimeter... i think.
