twin scroll with engine off?
ok i put a stage 2 turbo in a week ago. When we had the turbo off i looked at my twin scroll thing in the manifold and it was in the open position with the car off.
I was under the impression that it should remain closed till 5psi or what ever.... then open up to make more flow possible. My car is now making boost slowly down low and im searching for the problem.
so car off should the twin scroll be open or closed?
thanks

Open. The actuator is SPRING LOADED TO THE OPEN POSITION.
When you start the car up, a vacuum is put on the actuator and the diaphram pulls the rod to the CLOSED position.
When the ECU sees 2800 rpm it de-energizes the twin scroll solenoid and removes the vacuum. The spring forces the actuator rod to the full open position then.
So anytime your wondering what its like to live without the twin scroll....just pull the plug off the Twin Scroll Actuator. It'll go wide open 100 percent of the time.
In other words....no vacuum....wide open.
