Turn signal stalk screw

I recently lost this screw and can't for the life of me figure out what size it is. I've narrowed it down to either a M3 or a #5 but every sample of these I've acquired won't screw into the stud protruding from the console.

anyone know what size it is?

why don't you take some of the other screws for the gauge surround out and see what they are?

Because those screws aren't on the gauge cluster.

I don't know what size it is, but keep in mind that metric fasteners can have many different thread pitches. It may be M3 (I think it's probably smaller) with a finer thread pitch then you are trying.

ya what worries me is that when looking on hardware sites (not specifically automotive) there's only one listed 3mm size. that makes me think that mazda was being stupid and has some bizarre special pitch.

go to the hardware store, they have them. I have bought some before from Ace.

The real problem is that the plastic part on the arm cracks over time and thus the screw will be useless. Every switch does it, it's only a matter of time before it brakes. I ended up buying a new arm from the dealer. I think it was $20ish ?
