Turboed N/A Last DRAG!

Found this photo today and figured id post it.
http://www.supermotors.org/vehicles/...=27969#content

This was about a month ago before my rex blew a coolant seal. My turbo setup ran for 2 months flawlessly. Still have excellent compression on my rotors...but she overheats really quick and i have antifreeze leaking into the rotor housings. Anywayz here is what i had done the night that pic was takin
-T4 60-1 XS Power Turbo
-HKS 50mm wastegate
-XS Power T4 Manifold
-Walbro 255 fuel pump
-AFC 2
-XS Power Blow off Valve
-Gutted cat
-2.5" from turbo to cat
-MBC
-electric fan
-pirelli 175/70/14 stock tires!

Hopefully a full winter rebuild is on the way!

Uh, ok...

You got a turbo that supposedly can do 400hp, but you just want 13's?
Boy, you're not very hard to please.

It's called old shitty suspension and weight transfer, look at how compressed the rear is vs the front. All of the weight is shifting towards the back and compressing the stock crappy suspension, which then makes the front look like it 'lifts'.

It's not cool because all the energy wasted in compressing the suspension should go into moving the car forward. Also, old saggy suspension causes wheel hop, which breaks expensive things...

well...i only paid like 200$ for that turbo......and the only reason i could only run a 15.1 was because i was still getting used to the car and it had like completely bald tires on it so it spun a lot of the line. I was launching it at around 4k rpm....i found that if i launched at lower rpms the car would bog off the line, and too high of rpm it would spin too much off the line. I was hoping the car would last a little longer than it did so i could have dialed in a really good drag time. To give you a little idea....my rx7 would run right beside my friends RX8 (underdrive pulleys, exhaust, intake, clutch, flywheel, nitrous) from a 50mph roll up until i hit 5th gear at around 120mph. I just talked to KDR and am goin to be getting them to rebuild my engine and possibly put turbo rotors in so i can run higher boost. The only reason i didnt change injectors was that i figured if a talon tsi could run 14psi on stock 330cc (not sure..know injectors are small) all day then i should be able to run 5psi on 460cc. Oh yeah, the suspension on my car is actually pretty stiff....the body only has 87,??? miles on it. It was def. launching insanely hard that night as you can see from the pic. My friends told my i was almost liftin front tires that night.

oh yeah, my motor went one night when i was playin around with a turbo laser. I didnt even get to show him anything c/s when we pulled out at the red light my temp was on H. We werent racing from the light, so i didnt launch or anything, my car just stumbled when the light turned green and i had to give it alotta gas to get it to go and thats when i realized the high temp and i shut it down right away.

oh well....doesnt really matter how the rex runs now, i just went out and bought a 2002 Camaro Z28 35th anni. Black on Black leather, t-tops, 6 speed. It would be sweet to have my RX7 faster than my maro.....but only time will tell. But i am def. not going to give up on my rex.

Killed 3 Z28's with less than 2k total invested. Car+mods+maint < 2k

Back to the subject. You were launching at 4k rpms and getting the car to "lift" like that WITH bald tires, WITH a "pretty stiff" STOCK suspension.

Thats some real magic happening there...do you have any weight reduction done to the car?

in A way...

however, if the car is pwoerful enough, it is a GOOD thign since it transfers the weight to the rear for better traction....

in my chevelle, i launched better with the shocknuttrick because the weights get thrown all around

i kinda had weight reduction, no power steering, ac......got rid of basically everything under the hood that didnt do anything. No the electric fan kept the car cooler than the stock one. My water pump gave way, and the engine already had pretty high miles on it so im sure that didnt help none. Yeah, i was def. amazed when i put that turbo on my car the first night. Hopefully i will boosting around 9-10psi by next summer and laying down some crazy times at the drags. Im hoping to get into low 12' with some slics.

That is one creative plumbing job!

*edit* your trap speed is too low for that setup, I think your little adapter pipe coming from the coolant hose to the intake pipe where the bov is mounted is restricting you badly. You should be in the 100s, bald tires and stock suspension or not. Traction issues don't really affect trap speed as much as ET.
