Question TURBO UPGRADE on a TURBOII

i have an 88 TII and am thinking about upgrading the turbo a little later on. i remember from when i took out the stock turbo to get it ported that it was water cooled. if the aftermarket turbo isnt what would i do with the coolant lines that go in and out of the stock turbo? block them off some how?? has anybody run into this issue b4?

You block them.

Many ways to do so. Most popular is to simply cap them with rubber caps, which does work well. The best way is to drill and tap the holes, then install a plug.

If you do decide to install a turbo without the benefit of water cooling, then the only thing that cools the bearing housing is the oil circulating thru it. I would strongly suggest letting the engine run at idle after driving for a minimum of one minute before shutting it down to prevent coking of the oil in the bearing housing. Turbo timers are very handy for this and are readily available on eBay.
