Turbo Swap to n/a
Well i have an 86 n/a and a 86 t2.... the t2 is in REALLY bad shape, the engine is shot. so i was wondering if its worth pulling the turbo out the t2 and putting it on my n/a... ive seen threads about converting an n/a being costly... but it seems i might have all i need right here... what do yall think???

Get ready for a lot of work! Swap turbo, intercooler w/ mounting brackets, injectors, fuel pump, ECU, wiring harness, rotors, apex seals, tranny, flywheel, clutch, driveshaft, halfshafts, differential. There is more, but I can't think of it all right now! Just spend the $$$ and rebuild your TII! It will be a lot easier!

HHHmmm it depends on what you plan on doing? I take it you want to turbocharge the the N/A motor...well that has 9.7:1 compression ratio. it's high for a boosted motor. can it be done....yes. Has it been done...yes. IS it hard.....yes. Will it be fast......HELL YEAH. the max boost that you could run is like 9 psi. But 9 psi won't net the same amount as a lower compression rotor will. Yours will be slightly higher. So it'll never be Monstrous HP, but because of the higher compresion you'll have a lot better low end torque.
You would have to switch out all the sensors and the computer. Especially the boost sensor. I'm guessing that you could use the stock harness but i don't know for sure. Fuel and cooling of the intake charge temps will be a big concern. I would recommend a piggy back fuel comuter of some sort, such as an afc or F-con.
Also keep the boost level low at first about 6 psi. and then see how it handles to add more power. Rebuild your injectors and make sure the Pump is in good condition. Actually i would upgrade the sucker if you plan on making this a long term ---high output project.. It should make for a good street cruiser. with better intercooling and fuel management you could take it to 9 psi and about possibly see 275RWHP out that motor.
I've seen it done, however the high end power is tough to tune and my friend went through several motors getting it right.

hmm
a guy came into work today wondering if the FC in the lot was mine and i said yes... he said he had a turbo2 and wanted to put a V8 in it... yeah... so i offered to take the engine off his hands for... $200... he agreed and i gotta go get it sometime this week... I just wanted to ask... is pulling the turbo hardware from his and putting it on my NA engine worth it? I would swap the engines, but his has 160000 miles on it... mine has 30000 less... could you give me some feed back?

I'd take that engine if I were you and invest into rebuilding it yourself.
