turbo problems?

hi guys! wow a lot of people post here!

well im new to this forum and i recently bought a TII. there was a lot of problems with it mainly it sat on the previous' owner for about 3 months because the TII was overheating and the coolant was leaking. i bought it from him and i replaced the rusted *** spark plugs, thermostat (found out there wasnt one) changed oil and oil filter and the car starts! now i have a couple of questions.

1. the turbo boost meter does not move (is that normal? havent reved passed 4k rpm)
2. still leaking coolant
3. anyone know of a good place that can give me a good price on a rebuild

1. my dosent really move till i hit full boost, and its kind of like sometimes it does sometimes it dosent(Weird) Should be no big deal.
2. Soundes stupid but check all your hoses, and replace the soft cracking ones, the car could have blown a coolant seal (bad but if your plaining on having it down anyway... if the car smokes alot and the ex. smells like coolant youve blown your coolant seal)
were about is elk grove?

Hey man and welcome to the club! See that you have an 87 TII, me too!...well actually my sister does, I just got it for her! Currently getting my TID welded. Anyways.

There is someone that does great rebuilds and really cheap on these forums, so you are in luck!!! His sn is pek2gianne ......wait thats you!
Here is your necessary parts http://www.turbocity.com/default.php?cPath=15_20 it will be the 300-500 model. There is a write up on the forums with pictures and detailed step by step(which is not many) that tells you how to rebuild your turbo.

Now if your turbine is jacked....thats a poo. Anyways, welcome again and good luck.

EDIT:
And brekboarder is right, the stock gauge sucks. Most of the time it does not work, however mine does. After I changed the oil and all of the fluids, the turbo spooled quicker and the gauge worked accordingly.
