Turbo itself, not giving power

First off the car is an 87 t2, s5 turbo, and racing beat exhaust .... This morning the car was fine, and so I headed to the track. I opened it up a few times on the highway and seemed fine. My first run I do a small smoke show to warm up the tires, seems fine. I launch and by the time i hit 3rd gear no idea what rpm it was there was no power coming from the turbo. If i feathered the throttle it was okay but even an inch pressed it just doesn't have any power. This happens at about any psi level. The wideband reads 10.3 at cruise and dips into RCH, so I let off the throttle and bring it back to that sweet spot and repeat. It seemed like at 12-14 vacuum it was the best. No oil from the turbo anywhere, exhaust smells normal.

A boost leak would be THAT drastic though? Like when I hit the gas it has absolutely nothing. Very light throttle it kinda goes but more like a creep.

I just bought the tester on the website without the gauge, and then I look at my mechanical boost gauge in the car. But if you were putting it together I think it's a 3" PVC cap tapped to 1/2 NPT with a tire valve or male air compressor fitting. If you want a gauge on the tester itself, you can get pressure gauges with 1/8 NPT threads on them and then tap the tester 1/8 NPT. You'll have to double check everything I just listed though. As I said, I didn't bother putting one together myself.

are you making ANY boost at all? if a coupler popped off then your engine shouldn't be seeing any boost, so check for big leaks like that. if not, then check the turbo to see if it still spins freely. The problem could be somewhere else. check your engine compression too while you're at it

I had the same problem too, turned out it was my tid...had a huge crack underneath it before the turbo..that was after heavy some boosting too (came right off when I took it out too, when I was in the process of putting another turbo on)

and did you swap ur old vac lines with newer ones yet? (like silicone ones)

A really good test that i've been doing. Is sitting still and rev pulsing up to 5k rpm, and you can hear the turbo working. No shaft play on the turbo, no oil anywhere.

Now that you mention it, I did take off my TID that day. I checked the hose again and I don't see anything out of the ordinary. No I haven't swapped out the old vac's.

Doing that boost leak test today. AND YES we need to get this fixed fast, metal is buying it and im getting a lhd fd.

So apparently I can't get the tester setup, because my parents wont let me drive there new minivan. Considering im not covered on there insurance. Now I have to wait for the tester from that site. Which time is of the essence.

Another thing is the car is not holding idle whatsoever. I tried richening out the idle because its running on the lean side which is cause it to stall out. Starting I have no problems.
