turbo II engine rebuild pics. another one...
I just rebuilt the engine in my 87 t2...it ran well, but Im trading to another forum member and it was rebuilt and SP'd lightly at his request. I also did the a/c and p/s bracket up nice, as well as the a/c compressor, and cleaned up the engine bay a little. Pics of the final install later this week probably.
Now...who wants to buy an engine? lol

Yeah, sure, I can do about whatever. I actually had this one done that way, but I was asked to put it back stock.

What are your wheel specs...size, offset, cost.
Thanks!
Dude, I am totally interested. Do you provide some form of startup/compression warrenty on these? Are they compression tested before you sell em?
Im in a need of a motor, and I dont want to block all the vacuum lines and ****, because frankly I dont trust myself
PM me on details from the motors, price, do I need to send you the core or anything? Long block format?

Are you trying to show me up
J/K looks great. I tell you ... you have alot more "will power" than me. Building those things in a pain in the ***! I think I will stick to computers for a living.... I'm pretty sure I will always build my own, but if I was to charge for my man Hrs it would cost someone 10k a motor .... haha
looks good.

However, I have no problem offering a 1 year 12k warranty that excludes overheating(water seal failure). Since I dont know where to get those nice little temperature sensors, the only way to know when one was overheated would be obvious water seal failure, which would not be covered at any time after installation.
Im also considering offering an extended warranty(2/24 or 3/36) on the WHOLE engine for a bit of extra cash. I really dont see the need for it, but some people want that.
As for compression, all engines are compression tested immediately after being built, and before shipment.

I like to get a core to build, especially if it hasnt blown yet, which is the best route to go; just rebuild your good block. However, I have done a few where it was best to save on shipping and time to just build an engine from scratch, and let you keep your core...every situation is dfifferent.
I prefer short block(totally stripped) but I will do long blocks(as pictured above) for a small additional fee. I can also paint the longblock parts like that, for another small fee. The longblock assembly/disassembly is the time consuming part of it, and painting those parts even more so.

will a S4 build go under the hood just as that sits without to much trouble
Yes, ANY motor will go right in as a long block with all accessories and wiring. IF, you have the proper engine hoist and load leveler. IF youre using some sort of rig to lift it in and out, dont try it. I pull mine as pictured WITH tranny...no fooling with elbows and extensions to get bellhousing bolts out while under the car, and no wrestling with a transmission. IT unbolts in 30 seconds on the garage floor, and slides right back on in about the same time for reinstallation...tip the engine forward, let gravity mate the tranny adn engien for you...screw that lifting it up and aligning it under the car bullshit.
I have it down toa science now, and my best time for pulling a s4 NA engine complete with all wiring and manifolds, with tranny, is 1 hour 15 minutes. Car did not have a stock exhaust though...the exhaust is the hardest part of an engine pull.
Hey Kev...still have the exhaust shield for the turbo
I did the same thing in the past
No, pull it out WITh the engine. There are 4-5 plugs inside the firewall...there are more than 15 on the engine, plus you gotta pull the intakes to get to them. It's easier to be bent and twisted for 3 minutes unplugging insude the firewall, than for 2 hours in the engine bay.
Y,a thats kinda where I fuked up .. I left my harness in the engine bay
So I can't put it tottaly together outside of the car... I have to be able to plug **** in. Live N learn I realized shortly after that I should have done it the other way.

Now that I looked at it longer, yes, I do notice the black cover...cool.
