Turbo II Brakes onto GXL or SE?
hi,
Does anyone know if the disc brake rotors and calipers will bolt from a TII onto a 86-88GXL or 88SE? If it isn't just a simple bolt on, then any links to how-to pages or instructions on how to do the swap would be great!
Thanks,

Nope
The GXL and SE definitely have different brakes. The pads are different and are not interchangeable and also the caliper is different. The GXL has a longer pad. I don't know how to tell the number of pistons but my SE had just one I believe. I saw the calipers on a TII in the JYD and they were silver not black like my GXL's so I thought they must be different. One guy said it's not a bolt on but I think he may be wrong because there's a guy who says you can convert 4 lug SE's to 5lug rotors off the GXL by bolt on.

GXL's and turbos all came with the "good" brakes... that's 4-piston up front, and 1-piston in the rear. All with 5-lug wheels. These are directly swappable.
SE's came with 1-piston up front, and 1-piston in the rear, with 4-lug wheels, and smaller rotors. You can NOT just take the "good" calipers/rotors and drop them onto an SE. You would need to do the 5-lug conversion. I hear it's not THAT bad, but it's not really enjoyable. It's easier to swap the whole rear subframe, from what I hear. That way, you can get the LSD out of the doner, too.
If you're swapping from the turbo, you may have an issue with the whole subframe swap.. the diff is a bit different, and you would need a custom driveshaft made... or, take the diff + driveshaft + transmission, and you'll NEVER break it with your n/a.
