Heatshields are over rated. Took mine off long ago. Just keep the heat away from your air intake if you have an aftermarket setup.

that probably isnt doing anything...
great, your turbo sucks in that nice cold air... then your turbo heats it up, then the TMIC tries to cool it back off, then the air goes through your LIM which is GETTING TOTALLY BAKED BY YOUR TURBO SINCE YOU TOOK THE HEATSHIELD OFF, then your engine sucks in really hot air.

My car runs fine with no heatshields on the turbo or DP, just make sure there are no wires or vacuum lines that might touch it. If heatshields were that big of a deal, alot more people with aftermarket turbos would shield their turbos..

There are two long term reliability issues with the heat shields.
1) Less heat stress on surrounding wiring harness & vac lines (& ABS if you have it)
2) The exhaust manifold is less likely to crack if it cools down slower.
Neither is a big deal if you cool down some before shutting off the engine.
