Question turbo convertable FC?

Did they ever make a turbo convertable fc?
My girlfriend is looking into getting a convertable ride, so one of the cars that I thought of was the 7. I thought i had read in a thread that they were made at one point. Thanks for the info

yeah...none of our verts were turbo'ed otherwise I'd have one. But the Vert is still a hell of a car, even if it doesn't have turbo...you'll get a lot of people bitching that it's the slowest of the FC's but I'll argue with them...the only ones I wouldn't try going up against are a TII and a GTUs. Then again, I'm more known for having ***** and insanity than brains.

That being said, they're extremely fun with the top down, or if you want you can go targa style, although you've gotta make sure the automatic top works for that to be usable, which mine's not

Also maybe think about a Mazda Miata too. Probably would be a lot easier to find than a Vert FC. You could even buy a Miata and put a 13B Turbo in it then you have a light weight miata thats a lot faster than an FC.

So? Come on, I'll still kick it's ***!
Getting a turbo motor and putting it in isn't really that hard from what I've heard, though I can't say from personal experience, I've only had mine for about 9 months, still can't afford anything like a motor replacement (still owe $3700 on the loan )

As for just adding a turbo...I really couldn't say...I don't suppose it would be too difficult, but the 6 ports might cause a problem (not sure how familiar you are with the motors at the moment, only the N/A's have the 5th/6th ports...the turbo models apparently didn't need them

Also if you decide to go the route of just dropping in the turbo motor, you'll need (might miss something here, someone correct me if I forget anything) to make sure you get the throttle body, a TII hood (unless you decide to immediately go custom and get a front mount intercooler), the exhaust and the ECU. I may have missed something though seeing as I've not done it...or looked up much on it... Good luck, I've got your AIM, I'll talk to ya sometime on there, if I ever catch ya...my hours aren't exactly normal (usually between midnight and 6 in the morn )

Only in Japan, where all FC's were turbo'd.

HA hA HAHA HAHA

No, you don't add a intercooler and a turbo... what do you think it is some silly FWD honda???

To do it right, you swap the motor, tranny, rear end, engine harness, AFM, ECU, Pressure sensor, throttle cable, assorted other things to put in a TurboII driveline.

from what i have been reading the 2nd gens are more reliable than the 3rd gen's. From 1 -10, 1 being the worst, how would you rate a convertable 7? and a TII?
It would be ment to be a daily driver. Also, taken that the car would be regularly checked like oil, radiator fluid and the such.
Thanks for the help

My convertible has 155,000 miles on it. Transmission still shifts like it was brand new, and the engine cranks up just like any healthy high compression rotary should.

Out of the 25,000 miles that I've put on it it's only broken down on me once, and that was partially my fault for not replacing the old radiator hoses. Replaced the hose and she was good to go.

The only problems I'm experiencing are fickle electronics. One night only one of my headlights popped up. Not sure how that happened, has only happened once and hasn't happened since. Also, my wiper controls and climate controls sometimes don't work right after I start the car. They'll usually start working again after a minute or two. It only seems to do this when it's cold and raining, when I need my heater and wipers most.

But other than that, my RX-7 has been very dependable. Most reliable car I've ever owned.
