turbo conversion, what to do about the exhaust?

I searched. So i'm converting an 88 base into a turbo, and I'm wondering what i should do about the exhaust system. the turbo (donor) car came with a 3" downpipe/midpipe and some big honkin generic mufflers. I am going to delete all emissions, so I'm not concerned with cats. my base had mainly stock 2" exhaust system with racing beat non-turbo mufflers. Can I keep the mufflers on a turbo car? can I go from the 3" downpipe to the 2" y-pipe? what do you think I should do?

I'd say stay with the 3 inchers...I don't think that restriction is going to do any good...lol

if you want some power, you'd better keep that 3" system and port your wastegate while it's outta the car, that 3" system is going to make it creep like crazy!

if you do not want more power or just dont like aftermarket exhuast sytems, then keep your old one and sell the one you have.

personally, i'd also stay with the 3" system

In stock form, both the NA and t2 had the same size exhaust. Yes, the main cat, catback, mufflers, etc. are the same. The difference between the 2 is the extension pipe and precat in front of the main cat. With people doing stock turbo 2 conversions, I normally tell them to get the stock precat and extension pipe off a turbo 2 and keep the rest of their system if it's decent...if not, or emissions are not being installed, it's best to just run a straight 3" pipe all the way back to the stock Y or whatever else you want to run for a catback, or buy a prefabbed system like the rb turboback.

see, thing is, I want to keep the racing beat mufflers. I don't want the car to be super loud. But i wonder if keeping the non-turbo mufflers on a 3" system is just going to negate the rest of the system, and I'll feel like a sucker if I have to buy another set of racing beat mufflers. what is the difference between the racing beat turbo and non-turbo mufflers, i asked them but they gave me a weird answer that didn't really make sense.
