turbine sensor: a tiny little auto tranny part

I'm mostly a n00b, new to both my car and to this forum. I have an 89 automatic GTU, which has been mostly pretty good to me for the few months I'e had it. But, on my way back from work the other day, the hold light started flashing after the car shift into second. It keeps flashing until I turn it off, and doesn't start up again until I hit second again. I grounded the diagnostic wire as suggested int he factory service manual, and got error code 55, which corresponds to the turbine sensor, a little part on the bottom of the tranny, that (I think) monitors the torque convertor. The FSM basically says to just replace the part, but the guy at the local car parts store has no idea what part I'm talking about. I'd rather not have to take the part in to show him, but I might have to. If anyone knows anything about this particular part, or servicing it, your wisdom would be greatly appreciated!

You need to go to a Mazda dealer for this part.
You can't get it from a generic auto parts store.

Hmm. There is a harness that is connected to the auto trans with like 5 or 6 different plugs. When I replaced my auto with a 5 speed I only needed a couple and clipped the rest off. And my hold light flashed till I disconnected the A/T computer. You're best bet is to get under the car and inspect the connections. Its all electronic in the 89-91 A/T.
