forget the check connector just do a voltage adjustment, it should be set at 1 volt with the throttle closed. hook up your black voltmeter wire to the negative terminal on the battery and the red jumper to the green wire off the TPS connector and adjust the screw til it reads 1 volt with the throttle fully closed.

The green connector is towards the front on passenger side of the engine compartment. Sometimes they get shoved down where they're hard to see.

I thought you were supposed to check the TPS using a resistance checker? Not a voltmeter...

1 ohm resistance at idle or 1 volt??

I just checked mine this morning, from start to finish it took me about 10 minutes, thats including removing the tmic... I used this sites method, much easier to do imo

http://fc3spro.com/TECH/HOWTO/TPS/tps.html

and yes, voltmeter. i got mine set to 1.05v idle and around 5 wot, with smooth transition

I always set mine at 1.0ohm at idle. Then also check it while going from idle position to wot position making sure that it is not out of the perrameters listed in the link above ie..(5ohms). I have not had any problems using this method.

Be sure to watch your meter whatch your meter while moving throttle plates from idle to wot for flat spots or dead areas.

the green connector you are looking for is bundled with the vacuum valves for emissions on the turbo models. look right near your oil fill spout.

Get a new one, cheapass.

I prefer an analog (needle... whatever they're called) meter for the tps. It lets you see dead spots better.

People, please, get it right. It's 1K at idle. That is 1 kilo-ohm. As in 1000 Ohms.

Don't mess around with voltage readings and setting it with check lights. In my experience, those don't work. Follow the instructions on Ted's site and you will be fine.
