Suggestion? Don't waste your time with the XTD unless you want to take the trans out again...

And you can jack the front of the engine up to help you slide the trans in at a better angle.

Pull that XTD clutch and get a quality clutch. It will start slipping in 5k miles. Did you use the alignment tool when you tightened down the pressure plate?

Well im pretty much having to pull the trans every 2 months anyways for replacing clutches cause of drifting so much... plus i didnt see the need of having to pay 400+ for a stage 3 clutch thats just going to be overheated again anyways

And for jacking up the front of the motor already done that...

Yes i always use the Alignment tool when i put in a clutch

Well that XTD isnt going to last one clutch drop. I had one along time ago and it wouldnt hold 1lb of boost let alone drifting. You are wasting your time. A good ACT stage 3 or name brand clutch will last for awhile. Why is it that your heating up your clutch so much drifting? You shouldnt have to slip it that much to burn out quality clutchs that fast. Just my .02.

make sure your pilot bearing isnt messed up i used an xtd and when i installed it the pilot bearing ended up braking when i put it in so i got and oem one in and fixed it even tho i didnt like the xtd at all the pressure plate pressure sucks way to easy to press in and release. pulled it out and put an act only way to go

You should probly let your car cool down between runs just as common sense practice.

after inspecting the pilor bearing, try rotating either the input shaft or the engine. often times the splines on the input shaft wont always be aligned with the splines on the clutch disc. you have to get them rotated so that the two will fall together in the spline's grooves. you may have to attempt several small movements of one or the either to get it just right.

Put grease on the shaft. That'll ease it in there. I had the same problem in January. Just need to relax and it'll align, you can do it.

so is this the first time you are putting the tranny back in yourself?

The best way to get that tranny back in without killing yourself jiggling it back in and wasting your labor is to do as follows.

1. Get tranny into spline, it will not go in all the way as that is the problem that you are encountering.
2. Thread in a bolt on the bottom of the tranny going into the engine block, also you will need to thread in a bolt on the top of the tranny to the engine block. Bear in mind that these are temporary bolts and should not be threaded all the way in, just enough to support the tranny without having you jiggle the heck out of it and lead to frustration.
3. Get a ratchet and a socked to fit the main crank pulley in the front. It will fit with the OEM mechanical fan still on. Get someone to help out here and it will go super fast. Have your assistant turn the main pulley which will rotate the spline, while this is happening and with the tranny being temporarily held in with 2 bolts, it will go right in once the spline keeps getting rotated. once you see the driveshaft turning under the car when your assistant is turning the main pulley, the tranny is in... just bolt it up and celebrate with a beer...

just my advice, as I have wasted too many hours trying to jiggle the **** out of a tranny that will not go in... this system works flawless every time...

Regards,

- Anil...

make sure the splines arent digned or gouged preventing them from lining up. ive always done the wiggle and push method. if that fails, try rotating like said above. i take it your flat backing it? lifts are oh so nice. straddle the ****** like your gonna ride it lol, and wiggle that ****** in. make sure the dowels are fucked up either

Time and Time again..L-E-A-N the engine..make the engine Look like it will FLY out of the Engine bay.Fan UP,rear of the engine Tilted DOWN..the trans should Have NO cross member mount on it(just the Bare transmission)..Align everything(the clutch plate,to the pilot bearing,Etc..)..the pilot should have a touch of grease on it. Everything will go in Like Silkworm **** On Teflon...Trust me,I am DISABLED(vertebrae is toasted in my lower spine)..and I have done THREE transmissions..BY MYSELF.I get the trans on my Belly and lift...now if YOU can't do it,Hmm!..you got beat by a "GIMP"!..(haha!)

I rock XTD .. (I think if that is the 158$ one on ebay). I have went through .... 3.. no 4 turbo engines with it, have well over 10,000 miles on it, and competed in over 5 drift events. I also have recently autocrossed in it. I drive it like I stole it every time I get in the car. NO problems. Still runs great, and has never slipped. Maybe I am just special.
(this is not on my RE t04s engine) just my stock backup rx7.
