i did a search and all i saw were the auto->5speed so dont bother telling me to search.

anyways i have a 86 gx. im planning on putting a 13b-re in and i heard the tranny n drivetrain are not really strong enough to handle so much power (well compared to the TII stuff) so what i was wondering what tranny/drivetrain bolt up to a 13b-re. i think i heard a TII will bolt right up but im not sure. what are my options here. im pretty sure i will have to redo everything ... so any suggestions would b nice.

FWIW, the PO for my 86 base parts car was not sucessful in getting a s5 N/A tranny and starter to work with the 13b stock N/A s4 flywheel even though the bellhousing bolts up no problem. The t2 's will bolt up but others have said that the starter is not the same and won't engage with the N/a flywheel.

a 13b-re doesn't put out more than 220 does it? The n/a tranny is alright up to about 200, after that she'll start to say no. Plus the stock n/a clutch will just slip out.

Where are you getting the 13b-re?

i havent really decided where im goin to get the engine from. most likely i'll find somone on this site that sells them. like rotaryworks or someone. your rite the 13b-re does put out around 220hp stock. but im planning on doin some mods to it to try to put it in the 300-400 area. so chances are im goin to need to go with a full TII tranny and drivetrain. the only thing is that its hard to find >.<

Shaggy: thanx for the info on starters, i thought they all worked with each other

Yeah, an N/A won't do ya much good for that much hp. As for a TII bolting up and such, I don't know. I think it should, but you'll have to ask someone who's smarter than me .

the S5 TII should have the same bolt pattern. The mechanism inside is the same as the "J-Spec" version

13B-RE bolts up fine to the NA transmission...As for the power, well some will say that the transmission will be short lived. These are the people who have never put more then 180HP through an NA transmission. If you don't beat the **** out of it, the transmission will hold up fine to higher power levels. That said, I would recommend switching to the TII transmission...

You will need:
-appropriate flywheel and clutch
-TII transmission
-mount
-driveshaft
-starter
-slave cylinder
-rear end
-half shafts

There are also slight wiring differences between the transmissions.
