Transmission Sealant?
Transmission Sealant?
Does anyone carry any recommendations when it comes to a sealant for the extension housing and bell housing to the case?
I was thinking either:
Hylomar
Hondabond HT
Threebond 1194
Permatex Anaerobic sealant
Or Black RTV
Anyone know if any of these are better suited than the other?
Also has anyone used Mobil 1 Synthetic Grease for wheel bearings and clutch forks/pilot bearings? Any recommendations for that would be appreciated as well.

Last time I did it, the dealer recommended anaerobic sealant, I asked mazdatrix and they said they use black RTV. Most of the products listed say they can be used for "transmission cases". I have used threebond 1194 on trans cases at work but they usually have a gasket inbetween, and I have used hondabond HT to seal small crankcases that don't have a gasket. I believe the hondabond ht is also a threebond product. So in the sea of products that say they can seal trans cases I'm wondering if anyone has some good applied knowledge on these and if any come recommended over any others? A note, the 1194 is rated to 300F and the ht is rated to 600F.
Also as a side note, I despise removing the trans so I don't want to be down there again for some time. I wouldn't take the bell housing off, but I need to replace the input shaft bearing.
