ok so i can put the car into first gear if im stopped or going less than 5 mph, but it makes a horrible scratching noise when i try to downshift from 2nd to first any ideas what this is?

 

why would you want to downshift from 2nd to 1st?? i've always been told to never downshift 2-1 because it can ruin the transmission and 1st gear is a really small gear meant to get the car rolling (like a creeper gear).

 

Downshidting or using compression over 2000 rpm to stop in first is a no no.

Its even written in the user manual.

 

whoa hope i didnt **** anything up, i just bought the car today and was out for a bit of a joy ride. Well not doing that anymore.
