Question Transmission Problems

I dont hear too much talk or posts about tranny problems. I had a little problem with my clutch a coulple of weeks ago. I was having trouble getting in to gear. That is fixed now. But, My tranny makes a gear whinning noise in 1st,2nd and third now. Not loud but it was never there before. If my tranny goes does anyone know the best cost friendly options to repair it?

Thanks, Dave

TII transmissions can last forever if they are taken care of (on unmodded cars). You can find a tranny fairly cheap $200.00 or less on the parts trader. Just swap it in yourself. Only problem (and I speak from experience) I put a bad transmission in my 1st gen. years ago and had to take it right back out and swap for another one.

One other thing....people say redline mt90 in the gearbox will work miracles in easing shifting and quieting gear noise but I have not tried this in my car yet.

Cool

I put Redline MT90 in my Tranny last week.....no difference noted from mineral gear oil (none at all).

I still have grind when getting into 5th gear. Anyone know if I have to re & re the 5th gear syncros?
