I can start my rx7 88 SE 5spd. When I let off the clutch even though it's not in gear it will stall as if it were in gear. When I try to take off in first gear the car will not move at all. I can shift into first and second gear but I am not able to shift into any other gear. Please help!

 

It's locked up. Mine just did the same thing. Bought a used tranny for $60 off CL. Didn't know how bad mine was whining until I replaced it.

 

Jack the rear of the car up in the air, start it and let the clutch out. Do the tires spin? Its possible the trans is stuck in a gear.

 

Tires do not spin at all.
