Transmission Identification Question...

Don't normally hang on this section of the fourms, first gen guy myself.

But, when I bought my s4 13B, it can with a tranny, and I figured what the hell rebuild it in Transmissions class and such.

Well we need to order some parts for the transmission and we cannot identify what it is...

Its from a 1986 Rx7 Non-Turbo 5 Speed Manual. Does anyone know what the factory model designation for this Transmission is?

I can't help you with what you want, but I can tell you there are sooooooooo many variants of the 7 transmissions that ordering the correct kit is hard. I remember some post about a rebuilder that had to order 3 kits just to get all the parts he needed.

How are there many vairants? within the second generations there is only two transmissions isn't there? The N/A 5 speed Manual, and Turbo II 5-speed manual (not including the auto) I understand that there may have been chnanges to gear ratios, but the actual transmission model shouldn't have changed. Right?

have you looked in the factory parts fiche in the FAQ? The FC trannies are similar to the early Miata transmissions.

I had my turbo tranny rebuilt and they used a rebuilt kit for a Ford Ranger tranny, but there were still a few little parts that needed to come from Mazda. The 5th gear synchro for example changed from the 86-87.5 produced turbo cars to the 87.5+ cars.
