Tranny install question
Im putting in an engine and tranny into my car today and my question is: Is it easier to put the engine in and THEN install the tranny? or Is it easier to go Tranny first then install the engine?
Any1 know the torque specifications for the bolts that hold the tranny to the engine block? Thanks

Former Moderator. RIP Icemark.
A couple people I asked always said its easier to bolt the two together then drop it in, but I kept bashing things when I tried to lower them in.
Maybe if you have two people.
I just bolt the tranny into the car first now.

sometimes i can be a pain to line the engine up with the tranny, sometimes it will drop right in. It has be perfectly lined up and it will slide right into the tranny. Sometimes a big of wrestling will ensue. When i did my motor, i put my tranny in first, then dropped the motor in.

Those that know how to drop the engine into a waiting tranny can do it pretty quick, if you know all the little tricks!
Else, it's way easier to drop the trans and engine together as a unit.  The trick is to tie up the shifter housing and pull it through the shifter hole.  This is the hardest part of the install...
