I have a 91 NA and the short range TPS is bad. Engine check light is on. I'm getting engine error codes 18 and 12.

Short range TPS reads 0.0V with the throttle in the closed position and 4.7V at WOT. The engine check light goes off when the throttle is opened until this TPS gives 0.6V.


Question
I have a spare TPS from a S4 that works. Can I remove the bad S5 TPS by bending the 4 retaining tabs and replace it with the S4 TPS?

 

Im going to say no?

 

I'm almost positive it will physically work, but I'm not sure if it'll work right once you wire it up.

 

Just finished the swap. The S4 tps is the same as those used on the S5. I had to cut and splice 3 wires. Wire colors are different but I cut and spliced according to the wire position on the side of the tps. Don't quote me but I think it was red to orange, blue to black, yellow to green. I am sure the red went to orange. Those were the middle of the three wires. Check engine light is off. Codes are cleared. I did have to reset the tps screw until the voltage was 1k. Runs nice. /thread
