tps question and problem

okie i have 2 tps's one thats makes the car run rich and the other makes it smell lean.. in cali i have a smog test required. should i run with the lean one and drive over with 1/4 a tank of gas and see if it'll pass? it'll be taking it to a don't pass don't pay place.. i know rotaries are hard to get smoged.

at the time i have cold starting and normal starting temp problems. car won't start unless i blip the throttle. about 8/10 times.
the idle is solid when i hold down the brake after it reaches normal operating temp. its kinda odd?

Weird!

What year and model?

Did you adjust the TPS after installing it? I assume that you have an S4 based on your explanation. If you just throw a TPS on there, it will probably not be adjusted properly.

If you have a volt meter hooked up to it, does it have any breaks in its motion? Meaning does the meter go to 0 or infinity throughout the stroke of the sensors motion?

If not, then just adjust it.

Do you mean that at idle it smells like it runs rich or lean? <-- I am asking this becuase the TPS doesn't have anything to do with idle (Unless it is badly out of whack!)

More info please!
