tps problems

first off. im having many problems finding the tps adjust how to with the tps unplugged.

with a red lead on the red and black wire, im showing 1.1 kohms.. im going to try the voltage method for better luck.. i hope.

can anyone link me to some GOOD tps adjustment sites.. i cant seem to find anything helpful or reliable.

Put everything back together, start the car until she's at normal operating temp, gain access to your ECU, and read the TPS input (pin 2G on S4's, green/red wire on the middle plug) to ground with a meter. Should be "approx" 1 volt (mine runs better at .9, don't ask me why). Adjust the screw on the throttle linkage (might be under a cap) above the TPS to get your "approx" 1 volt at idle...

Now then, you've just checked out the ENTIRE TPS circuit, just like that- wasn't that easy?

Yeh, don't bother with that "ohms test" crap, you'll get a more stable, reliable reading using the voltage method...Either at the green/red TPS wire to ground (plug connected), or at the ECU as mentioned above...

After setting my idle as close to 750 as I could get, making sure the TPS was adjusted (which my dad laughed at my Radio Shack $2.79 tuner I built), and setting the timing perfectly....My car idles beautifully.

My timing was so far advanced that the marks weren't even seen. On a piston engine, it wouldn't have even started or ran at all.....only the rotary could put up with that kind of mis-tuning.

Check the voltage or build a tester....search for TPS adjustment RX7 or something like that on Google. It will give you the schematic to build the tester from a few parts from Radio Shack. It also covers how to use the new tool.

Set the timing and then play with the idle screw.

Good luck.
