Look at the jpg attached.

You put one lead on the spade that sits by itself and the other lead to the spade to the right as you look into the tps plug.

The engine has to be HOT OR you need to lift the linkage off the fast idle cam for this to work.

You adjust the reading using the TPS screw.

The reading with the throttle at idle should be approx 1K ohm. Note the K for 1000.

You don't want to be on the spade to your left as you look into the connector. It will read almost mirror opposite of the one on the right at a given time.

If the engine is NOT fully HOT, the linkage will move due to the fast idle cam/thermowax device. It will move the tps plunger OUT and give a higher reading than 1K ohm. It MIGHT give a reading like 1.678 K ohms (made up figure).

Frankly speaking your better off buying two LED lights from Radio Shack for three bucks. Twist the RED wires of both LED''s together and crimp a spade on the end. Then put a spade on each of the two left over wires. Install in the GREEN CHECK connector with the two red wires (now twisted together and a spade on the end) going to the socket on the green check connector socket that has the black/white wire feeding it on the harness. Then follow the FSM instructions for the two light method.

Even Brighter Bulbs will put the meter on VDC, backprobe the tps connector (tps connected to the harness plug doing this) where the green/red wire enters the plug. With the engine at idle the reading should be apporx 1vdc. IF not adjust the tps screw so it does read one volt. Done. I have a three foot long common screwdriver to do that with the intercooler on the car. For the tps I installed a spare piece of wire in the back of the green/red wire on the tps connector and ran it clear of the intercooler where I can put a meter on it. Therefore I don't ever have to remove the intercooler to check the tps reading. I also have the RTEK2.0 now days so I can read the value on the Palm device and never get a meter out anymore. RTEK2.0 ROCK AND ROLL.

The second jpg shows the thermowax/fast idle cam on the rear of the throttle body. When the roll pin is engaging the cam, the throttle linkage MOVES and the tps reading will be different than when the engine is fully hot and the roll pin and cam are seperated. done

A. Tell you what. Get on the red/black with one probe and the orange wire with the other probe and write down the figure.

B. Then get on the green/red wire with one probe and the orange with the other probe and write down the figure.

C. Then get on the green/red wire and then on the black/orange wire with the other lead and write down the figure.

Add steps B and C down. Compare that total to the step A. figure. They should be *close*.

I'll drop out of this post now for good.
