Top speed of a NA 2nd gen?
What is it?
Little story as to why I'd like to know.....
I was driving my daily driver (Infiniti J30 220hp V6 RWD) down the turnpike at about 70mph. I was in the center lane (hwy)and a 2nd gen was over in the left lane. His front bumper was side by side with my rear bumper. I notice the guy starts pulling up faster and faster, and then I floor it cuz I didn't want to get stuck behind a slow poke I was comming up against and then I go over to the right lane.
Funny thing I noticed was I was inching away from the 2nd gen! By the time I hit 115mph, he was almost 1 car behind me then I let off. I went back down to 80mph and he stayed right behind me. My governor (damn ecu) is at 117mph and I was wondering if I kept going, how far along he would have gotten.

my GTUs will max out it's narrow gearing all too quickly. at 120 the tach is at 6500 or so. I bet with my gearing I couldn't go much over 130.
I bet you could hit 160 down a hill

ive hit somewhere somewhere between 145-150 with my top down in my convertible. smooth as hell of a ride too, even at that speed. i travel between NJ and FL all the time and i have quite the numerous opportunities to do so.

I personally dont like going that fast either. **** can happen too fast, and then you're dead, or are in the hospital with a totaled car. Im not saying Ive never hit 130+ in my FC, but its been very few times (can count them on one hand) and I dont make a habbit of it. Its too risky..

Anyways, I've gone 210km stock, (about 130) and 215-220km (137m) or so after mods (still N/A) , That's on hilly terrain... don't know what total top end is- not much more though.
BTW- stock speedos are next to useless at that speed. They could be off by 20+ km's.
Use GPS to be sure!
I know that my speedo reads 60km when I'm doing 55km. (Radar gun tested)

Oh come on... you're speedo's off or you have got lotsof mods to be able to go faster than a TII.
Fifth Gear ratio for(86-88) NA is .697, for TII it's .762 their final gear ratio is 4.100. Stock Tire diameter for NA is about 25 inches and for TII it's about 25.5 inches. Redline for NA and TII is both 7,000.
NA top speed (at 7000 RPM).
[(7000 RPM)(25 inches)(3.14...)]/[(4.100)(.697)]=192385.03 inches per minute which is 182 MPH
TII top speed (at 7000 RPM)
[(7000 RPM)(25.5 inches)(3.14...)]/[(4.100)(.762)]=179493.7 inches per minute which is 169 MPH
It's true top speed of TII is lower than top speed of NA. But since TII reaches it's top speed much faster than NA so it faster in that sence but when you look at top speed NA is faster.
