Top Problem

I am new to forum so if I post incorrectly, I apologize. I have a 1990 RX7 convertible. The top has decided not to go down for me. It is electric and when I push the button to lift top, I get nothing. When I push the button as though I were lowering the top, I do hear a noise. Any ideas?? Thanks

I don't know if this is a stupid question or not, but is your e-brake up? You have to have the parking brake on to put the top down, as a "safety mechanism." I had the same stupid problem with mine, it took me a while to figure that one out. Without the brake in place all you hear is a quick "beepbeepbeep."
