Mitsubishi Motors is just a tiny, tiny, insignificantly small part of the Mitsubishi Corporation.

Don't you know, Mitisbushi made EVERYTHING in the late 80's/90s. You see their logo on stock bodykits.

Mitsubushi even made airplanes back in WW2... the Mistubishi Zero being the most common. also the most famous... since they were used as kamikazis.

Quick history lesson (I am a history major and have studied Japan). Mitsubishi is one of several large corporations that has dominated Japanese industry since the late 1800s (Mitsui and Sumitomo are some of the other ones). There's nothing weird about Mitsubishi making your alternator. They make most of the turbos out there too--WRX's, STi's, SRT-4's, and a bunch of other cars use Mitsu turbos.

Hell, Toyota used to manufacture equipment for making textiles...

A while back I found that Mitsubishi makes power plants as well. I think their steam turbines are found on several neuclear reactors. But may be wrong on that one.

Found that they do much more than what I just listed:

Cargo/oil ships, aerospace, various heavy industrial applications and such.. wow.

I've never seen one myself. I was really suprised at the Porsche tractor, though. It was sitting right next to a 959 in the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mazda_Motor_Corporation

I remember reading on Corksport's website that they derived their name from the original name for Mazda, Toyo Cork Kogyo Co, who made, of all things, Cork.

Mazda began as the Toyo Cork Kogyo Co., Ltd, founded in Japan in 1920. Toyo Kogyo moved from manufacturing machine tools to vehicles, with the introduction of the Mazda-Go in 1931, although they produced weapons for the Japanese military throughout the Second World War. The company formally adopted the Mazda name in 1984, though every automobile sold from the beginning bore that name. The first four-wheel car, the Mazda R360 was introduced in 1960, followed by the Mazda Carol in 1962.
And our friends at Nintendo...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nintendo

Nintendo Company, Limited (任天堂 or ニンテンドー Nintendō?; NASDAQ: NTDOY, TYO: 7974 usually referred to as simply Nintendo) is a multinational corporation founded on September 23, 1889[1] in Kyoto, Japan by Fusajiro Yamauchi to produce handmade hanafuda cards.[2] In the mid-twentieth century, the company tried several small niche businesses, such as a love hotel and a taxi company.[3] Over the years, it became a video game company, growing into one of the most powerful in the industry. Aside from video games, Nintendo is also the majority owner of the Seattle Mariners, a Major League Baseball team in Seattle, Washington.
