Titanium exhaust options

Is anyone making Ti exhaust for the FC3S? I looked around and came up with nothing. After going with Titanium on my G37 I don't think I can do SS anymore. Even working on the car taking off the exhaust is a breeze. Seriously the difference is night and day!

I was looking at the FD Tomei Ti exhaust, I know they are different but it honestly looks like it's routed extremely close to the FC. For only $900 I may take the gamble, but I'm hoping someone can chime in!

Alright well I'm thinking there is none right now based on your reactions: How about this, if I could get a group buy started for a high quality Titanium exhaust, either single or dual, would anyone here be interested? If so, dual or single preferred? The weight savings for standard stainless is pretty massive, and it holds up to the elements even better than SS. I bought into a Titanium exhaust group buy a few years ago, I'd say the cost of a single would probably be $1400~, and dual closer to double that.

This would be arranged with a company from China if I did run it, but they do have the best equipment for mass produced titanium in the world right now. Mine for my G37 was designed in America but made in China, just to get an example of a system. Maybe there isn't enough FC users to get this started, IDK.

I don't think you'll find enough people to jump on board for this. FC ownership is pretty low anymore. Cool idea, but you might be better off having a one-off custom made exhaust if you're after that.

Back in 1998, I ran a Borla SS catback exhaust system and Mindtrain high-flow cat on my S5 non-turbo. Had it on for only about 18 months, then replaced it with a steel HKS Sport 50mm exhaust system. Couldn't put up with the rotary's loud droning at highway speeds. The Borla exhaust used thinwall SS tubing. The titanium tubing would probably be thinner meaning even greater droning at highway speeds.

That is a nice looking system but, as already mentioned a one-off custom setup may be the way to go. I can't say for sure that FC ownership isn't trending in a different direction, but it used to mostly be young and broke, old and cheap, or build their own stuff because the aftermarket is drying up. Though with FC prices on the rise the young and broke demographic may get pushed out of the opportunity to own one.

If you want a single and know a local shop that does good work and can weld titanium using that as a donor and then modifying it to fit the FC may be the way to go. Because SS FD exhaust are more plentiful and usually cheaper than FC ones I have thought about using one as a donor and then modifying it to fit since I know how to weld somewhat decent.

Just use an internal purge and it's fine, one should on stainless also but, not necessary.

Based on the feedback here, I think you guys are right and I may need to do custom or modify an FD Tomei. I did reach out to a company but they said it would need 20 orders minimum to get the ball rolling. The good news is, Tomei is pretty cheap all things considered, so I think I'll go that route.

A first page Google search on thick walled titanium exhaust tubing.

I just built a custom Titanium single for my FC. I bought all the parts from ticon and had a welder put it together. I have a small write up about it and pictures on my IG from a post yesteday and a sound clip that I posted today. @s2kerik
