tired of braking tII transmisions
Down here in miami we are using celica transmisions bolted up to a spacer and a turbo II bell housing.
Turbo cars running low 10's with good results and they shift alot better.

yeah it is mainly done on drag cars that race street class. The rear trany mount has to be fabricated and a driveshaft too. It last alot longer ,shifts alot better and you get them for an average price of $150.

i saw an australian rx7 site that that sold spacers to use Supra transmissions with your 7 as well as one or two other toyota transmissions. they are supposed to be the best out there i guess. wish i could remember the address...
ps. celica is FWD right? so how does that work? or maybe you are talking really old celica? like celica supra? i don't know about you, but i don't want my tranny to get any older.

Toyota celica 1981-1985 rear wheel drive. The model that the headlights are hidden and come out when you turn them on. Some toyota pickup trucks bring it too. see picture it is not a fwd trans.

If you are drag racing you don't want your wallet to get any thinner or your ET's any slower. After you break the turbo II trans. a couple of times and everytime you get one for 250-375$ and also every time you launch in first gear and rev it to above 8000 you have to see the rpm drop to around 6500 before you can get second gear in. Then you be looking at any trany any year that gets the job done at a cheaper price?

that seemed a little uncalled for. he was just questioning the strength of the tranny, maybe instead of insulting, you could inform us better on this tranny to help us understand how it would be an upgrade.

No it didn't. This forum needs to lighten up. I know, too many dumb kids here posting but sheesh, he came up with a solution to a problem using a spacer and a cheap, basically surplus part. Props, Mazda Specialist.

Im sorry for the uncalled words. I guess you guys are just doing moderate street racing. Once you put your slicks on your rx-7 and go to the waterbox and do a burnout and then launch your rotary at above 7000 and side slip your foot off the clutch you will start understanding the need for a better tranny. I posted this for the ones who are tired of braking the tII trans. But all you other guyss can get an idea of what other things happen when you start increasing your performance into the racecar specs.

What part of the trans are you finding breaks alot and at what hp level did you notice this? Also, are you still running the IRS or did you swap in something like a ford 9"? I think I'm going to swap to guru dog gears if I ever out power my tranny.

more importantly torque numbers. horsepower doesn't break anything and people's horsepower and torque numbers vary quite a bit. some having a large gap, others running near same max hp and torque.
