If your FD is your primary transportation, then the Kuhmo is the way to go. They stick like glue in the rain.

Those Intermediates were awesome, autocross, drag racing, daily drivers, rain, dry, nothing they couldn't handle. Not too shabby in the snow.

I heard the Falken Azeni's are pretty good, wet/dry and z-rated for a good price. There's also the Dunlop SP8000

I got 'em and love 'em

Good tire for the money, great in the dry or wet and cool tread pattern to boot

I'm running the Falken ST-115's on my car now and I love them! (245/45 R17) They stick great, are awesome in the rain, and handling is better than my previous Dunlop SP8000s. Cost is about $100-110 each

Tires- bang for buck

IF....... you can find someone who still has inventory.... Bridgestone Potenza RE71. Once a first line OE tire for 2nd Gen GTUs and TII, now discontinued by Bridgestone. Very stiff sidewall, soft tread compound, excellent handling and.... the price steadily went down over the years. I paid $184 each for my first replacement set in 1986. The last set I got from Tire Rack last year was about $80 for 205ZR55R-16. Otherwise, YGWYPF, cheap tires, cheap price. I don't like the price for the Bridgestone S-03 PP I have now, but they are excellent tires.

If you want the best tire buy Toyo T1-S. The best bang for the buck would be Yoko Intermediate. Inspite of what has been posted, they suck in the rain and snow. How do I know ? Went thru five sets. The T1-S kills them in rain and snow.

Couldn't agree more. Bought a set of RE71's, half used for $100. With the exception of 008R's, they were the sharpest and most well behaved (affordable) tire I've ever driven on. Great turn in, and sticky. I wore them down to the belts. But, as you said, now they are very hard to find. They also came as OE on the NSX and some Ferrari 348's. Now I have A520's which are really nice; maybe not as sharp as the Potenzas, but very smooth nonetheless.

The Kumhos work great. You can even get the W-rated series that perform better than Z-rated tires. I love these tires and the price is great too. These have become my tire of choice.
