Tint cracks on turn signals

I am having a big problem with trying to tint my turn signals. I've tried it twice now and each time the tint cracks to **** when it dries. I did my ftps no problem and they came out really nice on the first try. Does anyone know why the tint cracks on the turn signals? I'm using NightShades btw.

yeah, I'm familiar with the problem you speak of... I've actually only had problems with the FTP's and not the turns. I'm sure the problem is the same. It's like a spider-web type cracking all across the face of the lens.

Don't be afraid of wet-sanding. I'd suggest either 800 or 1000 grit. You'd think 2000 grit would be a bit *safer*, but since they're going to be black and not clear, you don't need to worry about fogging. Light will shine through regardless.

I'd wet-sand until the cracks are no longer visible. Then do several really light coats. I've found that the cracking comes when the final, or multiple final thicker coats are applied. Just do many lighter coats (like 6 sweeps from 12" away for each coat). Take your time and keep doing it until it's the darkness you desire. Wait several hours for the Niteshade to dry, then wetsand with 2000 grit paper. After this, do 2 lighter coats of Clearcoat and then DRENCH it in clear so you can see no 'fuzz', only sloppy, thick clear. Make sure that you apply these coats while the lenses are perfectly flat, this way the final coat has no where to "run" and you can get it as thick as you desire.

Good luck, doggggg

Ok, thanks man. I did wetsand the lenses before i tried to tint them this time with 1500 grit but I'll try it again. I didn't sand after the tint and then clear tho so I'll have to get some clear coat now.
