KS Timing and TPS question

91 NA Vert...

Ok, I set the leading timing dead on the yellow mark, go to the trailing and it's in the same place!! Whats wrong here? ALSO, the timing does NOT move when I accelerate the engine all the way to red line, but DOES retard considerably when I snap the throttle closed then quickly returns to the original setting. Side note here, this sounds like the initial set jumper might be in, but I sure cant find that connector!!! any suggestions?

I've seen a lot of stuff about testing the TPS, but none of the diagrams look anything like what I'm seeing in my car. neither does the FSM. Could use a little help here.

The initial set connector is a single pin, green colored plug right next to the leading coil. The leading coil is right in front of the driver side head light.

I doubt it is grounded, but you never know.... did you just buy this car?

found it, not grounded. I was looking for a two pin connector per the FSM. DAMN I was hoping that was the timing problem. I've had the car for a month, bought it as a project (non running) and with a little help from ppl here on the board, got it running... much better than I thought too!! Now I'm just trying to get it to run RIGHT!! initially the timing was way advanced, but it ran quite well, now the leading timing is right (trailing is in the same place for some reason) and it idles fine, and accelerates ok up to about 4k then falls on its face... no advance!! so I'm trying to rule out all the problems I can, and my problems above are where I've landed. Any further assistance would be GREATLY appreciated!!

Only thing I can throw in here is make sure the wires are routed correctly. You could have been putting the timing light sensor to a wire you thought was comming from the trailing when it was coming from the leading coil, since they snake past each other. So common to mess up in a careless moment.

Doesn't explain some other things you mentioned though. It almost sounds like the CAS is unplugged or the ECU somehow isn't getting an RPM reference.
