Question timing problem

I have an 87 n/a rx-7 and I was doing a tune up because it has bad idle and dies on occasion at stop lights. I timed all of the wirings and t2 was off. It was so off I couldn't even see the mark anywhere around the pin. Is this possible to have t1 good and t2 off? If so, how do I fix it? Could this be a reason why my car always backfires when I let of the gas quick?

You never set timing with T2 - only T1. You'll never be able to see the marks with T2 - it's firing at a different time in the revolution.

Sorry, I mean that it sparks on the same mark as L1.

L1 & L2 fire @ the same time (1 is a dead spark). You'll see the leading igniter is not divided as Trailing igniter. T1 & T2 fire @ different times as Dale stated.
That is why the lite will be on mark whether L1 or L2.
