Youre supposed to check using only the l1 and t1 wires, for leadig and trailing timing mark respectively.

The reason l1 and l2 both line up with the leading timing mark is because they fire at the same time, all teh time. The trailings fire at different times, so they will not both line up, and they are not supposed to. As long as l1 and t1 line up youre good.
