Timing?

I got an 86 n/a, and I just took off my power steering pump, and I'm trying to get the a/c compressor out (compressor is busted). I took the belts off and drove it around, all is good. I wanted to know, cause the belts are gone, is the timing gonna be messed up? It idles normal; I just wanted some opinions from knowledgable people.

Also, I'm having trouble getting the compressor out, the frame is in the way of the screw under the compressor and I can't pull it out. Should I just cut the screw till i can get it out? Thx

i got the sanden compressor, not the nippondenso. sanden only has three bolts holding it on (or hayne's is full o ****, but i don't think that's it, lol). also, i don't you understood, i got the screw completely unscrewed, but the bolt is like 5 inches long, and there's only like 3 inches between the compressor and the frame, so i can't pull the screw completely out. doesn't matter now though, i'm just gonna cut the screw with a hacksaw until i can pull it out completely and remove the compressor. I was more concerned with the timing than gettin that out.

Thx for the info though

I've a Sanden. It has fouir bolts with 12mm wrench size heads on 'em. To make life easier, I do a little obstrctional removal. That means I remove the battery, then the shelf the battery sits on.

Once that battery shelf is removed it's a little easier to reach the bolt heads and unscrew them. The bolts will remain with the compressor as you lift it out.

I hope we're not talking apples and oranges. Maybe I'm talking about something different???

I agree the two bottom bolts are a little difficut to get to, but once you do it a couple of times, it gets easier.
